5 Stages Of Germination Of Seeds

friends with benefits (No Strings Attached)

Do not saw this movie a few weeks ago? One moment ... No, that was Love and Other Drugs . Although, to be fair, the world can never have enough compelling stories about couples who decide to have a purely sexual relationship, only to discover that they are falling in love, which of course ruins everything. Who has not been the same?

The central couple of friends with benefits consists of Adam (Ashton Kutcher) and Emma (Natalie Portman), friends since childhood of being left for several years until that happened to be located and, almost unwittingly, were beginning to sneak "encounters" that leave them satisfied sexually without emotional complications. The situation seems perfect for both, but when they start to emerge hints of romance should question whether they want to proceed with something that could become "love," or whether it is better to break the link that unnecessarily complicate their lives.

In the context of romantic comedies the idea of \u200b\u200b"sex without love" can be attractive because it represents something of an "anti-romance" that defies expectations and conventions gender. Unfortunately, no one (to my knowledge) has dared to take the concept to its natural consequences, without bringing the obligatory romance that leads to the inevitable happy ending. Perhaps if the director Ivan Reitman have found a realistic and satisfactory way of maintaining the integrity of his characters and ideology, Friends with Rights would be more interesting. Unfortunately, Reitman and his writers do not even try, and the result is predictable and irritating film that offers no surprise, no emotions, no laughter. I can partly attribute the problem to the soft splashing argument dialogues with profanity and graphic sexual references to look sophisticated, when in reality he is betraying his desperation to make us laugh, even with his "audacity." However, I believe that the main culprits are the actors.

I do not automatically hate everything that makes Ashton Kutcher (I assure you I have nothing against him), but it's so easy to hate that even I can look at their performance. In any case I assume that maybe fans still enjoy Rights Friends with the brief appearance of her bare ass, or his characteristic attitude combined immature nerd looking male model. As for Natalie Portman , it is more difficult to describe the situation. Honestly I think it's one of the best actresses working today (much more talented veteran divas like Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman or Jessica Simpson) (Ja! Wanted to see if you were paying attention). However, I recognize that comedy is not one of its strengths. Or rather, it is not his strong suit the style of comedy that uses friends with benefits, even though it fails strives to make credible the "chemistry" with Kutcher, nor heard honest with parliaments as "That hole is my bitch! ". On the other hand, this limitation in his acting range may prevent take the road Reese Witherspoon, Kate Hudson or Amanda Seyfried, wasting his talent in horrible romantic comedies. Anyway I appreciate the commitment shown by the horrible Portman script, and his enthusiasm for tackling many of the scenes in her underwear.

Anyway ... I suppose there are enough "star power" friends with benefits satisfied to leave some viewers, which I respect totally. But personally I felt it was a wasted opportunity to do something more interesting the concept of "friends with benefits." Speaking of waste, also thanked the efforts of the supporting cast (including the solid comedians Abby Elliot, Lake Bell, Mindy Kaling and Greta Gerwig), which occasionally made me smile (for example, with the imitation that makes Elliot pixariano some fish). As for the semi-legendary filmmaker Ivan Reitman, I think by now has become a better producer ( Up in the Air ) that director ( My Super Ex-Girlfriend ); hopefully continue to thrive in that capacity . So, although I can not recommend it, I admit it may There is an audience for Friends with Rights. Too bad I'm too old and ugly to identify with the problems of beautiful people, otherwise I probably would have seemed more realistic this movie. Not to mention, went missing twice.

Sanctum 3D: Voyage to the Bottom of the Earth (Sanctum)

I'll make a prediction: in one or two years, the Blu-Ray 3D Sanctum be universally used in shops and home to show off the properties of three-dimensional television by then will flooding the market (assuming that the technology expect to thrive as their manufacturers). And surely 3D Sanctum sell many televisions, offering truly stunning images that look like he had never seen the process of filming in 3D. If only they made a good enough argument to do justice to the film ...

inspired "by true events," 3D Sanctum shows the daring adventures of a team of cavers (second time I use that word this week) that explore the stunning cave That 'ala in New Guinea, finding deep pits, huge galleries and treacherous underground rivers ever visited by man. Of course this is a very dangerous activity and does not take long to get an unexpected tragedy that puts the group in mortal danger by forcing them to take very difficult decisions to save as many members as possible. Although, two miles deep, many will not come out alive.

With James Cameron's name in the credits of the film (as executive producer and king of the world), we can expect in 3D Sanctum the same spirit of exploration and techno-fetishism that guided his documentaries about the wonders ( human, natural and hypothetical) of the underwater world. For better or for worse, I think a documentary about the (fictional ) Esa'ala cave (perhaps based on " Basement of the Swallows") have been more interesting than this tedious interpretation melodramatic, full of hateful characters forced wrongdoing and conflict, designed to extol the "extreme" personalities of the explorers. Rhys Wakefield was particularly galling as the youngest member of the team, with abundant "Daddy issues" to be resolved before it reaches its true potential as an adventurer (and lover "teen") and Ioan Gruffudd certainly wealthy and psychotic as the expedition leader, willing to take any risk to suit their personal whims. We know it is a rebel who plays by his own rules, because a character is in charge kindly pointed out: "He plays by his own rules." Thanks, movie, never would have imagined. By the way, that's the general level of the dialogue and the whole script, just missed the classic "Go, go, go!".

Speaking of playing under their own rules, I found it odd that 3D Sanctum combine with other extraordinary special effects so bad that seem taken directly to DVD movie. Surely the deep pocket of Cameron and their relationships with the studios that made possible the artificial wonders Avatar could have achieved a better integration between real scenes with digital obviously home. Perhaps there is a lesson hidden in this phenomenon: if you have the resources to capture great images in natural settings (or sets built), do not mix with the computer simulated views, as always finish lost in the inevitable comparison. On second thought, there is a lesson hidden, but quite clear. Mr. Director Alister Grierson, please take note for next.

Ultimately I do not care if it is based (sorry, "inspired") on real events or is a fantasy created by the Ministry of Tourism New Guinea (or Australia, where some locations were filmed.) The director and the writers had to make a better effort to capture our attention, instead of shamelessly copied scenes from The Abyss ("The storm became a hurricane! "), The Descent and why not?, to The Cave (no, no monsters cannibals 3D Sanctum, but may well have been a little more entertainment). In spite of all I give a grudging recommendation only thing that works ... the impressive three-dimensional underground image created by the heroic Jules O'Laughlin cinematographer and production designer Nicholas McCallum, who definitely are only stars that shine in this dull film. can only hope that in future someone writes a good story with interesting characters and witty narrative in which to exploit this technology. Of course, with these attributes, we would not need the "gimmick" 3D to sell the film.

Revenge Lethal (Faster)

First, a small clarification to avoid confusion (especially mine): In a couple of months we see Dwayne Johnson in Fast Five, the fifth film in the blockbuster franchise The Fast and the Furious , which will surely lead fast cars and take full advantage its image as "tough guy." But before that we see on the tape Faster (in Mexico titled "Revenge Lethal ) driving fast cars and exploiting their image of" tough guy. " Who knows why this player would choose to make two films so close and so similar in title and themes, but ... at least Lethal Revenge seemed entertaining enough to spend a pleasant time full of drama and violence, though free of narrative innovation. We'll see if Fast Five can achieve the same.

Already we will learn in a few months, for the moment let us focus on Lethal Revenge. As you describe your title, the plot follows the dizzying cross the expert driver (Dwayne Johnson), fresh out of prison after serving ten years for participation as a driver in a bank robbery. Then, without missing a beat, begins his mission of vengeance against those deemed responsible for the death of his brother. Knowing that this would happen, a mysterious figure hires a ruthless hired Murderer (Oliver Jackson-Cohen), to remove the driver. And, of course, corpses and destruction they leave behind both the attention of the Police (Billy Bob Thornton) and his partner Cicero (Carla Gugino), who discover unexpected connections between the newly killed.

There is nothing innovative in Lethal Revenge , but director George Tillman, Jr. takes this lack of originality to convert the tape to a clever homage to cinema exploitation and revenge that was so popular in the seventies . The protagonists do not even have names, and are identified by their role in the plot: driver, police, murderer ... not necessary to know more about them. But the writers Tony and Joe Gayton beyond this simplification by introducing interesting and even contradictory aspects of the characters, raising the film above simple thriller that could have been. For starters, the driver does not delight in the death of their enemies, thanks to the strong (and almost mute) interpretation of Dwayne Johnson is clear that the player only does his duty to honor the memory of his dead brother, and in fact no pleasure in revenge. We may never win an Oscar, but in recent years Johnson has shown unusual range in all types of films, from comedy to action, and although their projects may not always be good (does anyone said "Tooth Fairy" ?) I'm sure it can tackle almost any role with aplomb and credibility that few "stars" they have.

For its part, the Police played by Billy Bob Thornton is corrupt, drug addict, divorced, classic archetype "noir." But their attempts to redeem himself in the eyes of your child feels honest, and what could have been a living cliché becomes a real person trying to overcome the defect to restore the fragments of his nearly extinct dignity. Finally, we have Oliver Jackson-Cohen (for a moment I thought it was Jake Gyllenhaal) and the Murderer, seemingly cold, but with turbulent emotions inside. At first it seems the typical British thug, sophisticated and impassive, but surprises us with its unusual past, their reasons for entering the profession of hired murderer, and his warm relationship with the beautiful Lily (Maggie Grace ), not to mention their conversations with a psychiatrist who recommended better balance the different elements of your life. Rounding out the cast we have the always reliable Carla Gugino as the shrewd detective who sniffs something hidden behind the killings, to Jennifer Carpenter as a woman with mysterious ties to the driver, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje in the short but juicy role of ex-felon with genuine intentions to purge past crimes.

To enjoy Lethal Revenge should not expect a band of ridiculous action, or inhuman stunts or car chases tremendous (well, there is one in a Chevelle SS and Ferrari 360, but is relatively short and no strikes). What the film offers a couple of interesting characters, dynamic leadership and performance slightly higher than the generic detective films we've seen in recent years. Also please the fans of exploitation cinema that is open to the experience of seeing a modern re-interpretation of the genre, maybe less raw than its predecessors, but with the same intentions to appeal to our love for the cathartic violence and anti-heroes do not lose their humanity among all the drama. I did not expect this from George Tillman, Jr., a director most famous for his films rapper , but thank you for having ventured into new territory. Hollywood hopefully take it into account for future projects more high profile. Who knows? Perhaps it could even lead The Fast and the Furious 12: Out of Gas .

Treatment For Bleach Inhalation

127 Hours (127 Hours ) All-Star Superman

I do not know if it was good or bad that Danny Boyle won many awards and recognition for Slumdog Millionaire. On the one hand I like to recognize the visual and narrative talent who gave us films like 28 Days Later and A Life Less Ordinary , on the other hand, it seems that future work will be automatically classified as "competitive the Oscars "(at least for a while), which could harm by creating unrealistic expectations of your movies and change the public perception, always ready to overthrow their "idols." Which brings us to 127 hours , a remarkable drama inspired by actual events come alive under the skillful hands of Boyle, giving us a fascinating cinematic experience ... that ultimately does not go beyond his brief spell.

The protagonist is Aron Ralston (James Franco), an enthusiastic mountaineer and caver one day party (without telling anyone) on a personal expedition to the picturesque Blue John Canyon in U.S. state of Utah, where the rugged beauty of the landscape contrasts with the hidden dangers in your topology. After helping two lost hikers, Aron is the issue ... until he accidentally falls into a crevasse, which is pinned by a rock that oppresses his right arm. So for the next 127 hours, the young provides all possible solutions to get out alive from the horrible situation, remembering important passages of his life which illustrate his ideology and personality. But when your memories start to become hallucinations, he realizes that the main danger is not in the elements, but mad, which would surely seal his fate.

Knowing in advance the overall theme of the argument, I thought 127 hours take a path similar to the thriller Buried , infecting the viewer with the claustrophobia of a protagonist trapped in a confined space. However, Danny Boyle's vision is far more ambitious and spectacular, even with its lead actor confined to a hole in the rock, the camera is always dynamic and unpredictable, capturing each scene from the point or site that conveys the greatest emotional impact (and I mean not only the video camera to which Aron capture their increasingly fatalistic thoughts). In other words, 127 Hours feel as agile as any action film thanks to the great direction of Boyle, as energy that leaves us breathless in some sequences, and so precise that it does not lose a single detail of the performance of James Franco, which also helps to capture the viewer's attention. In fact, I dare say that even without the camera tricks and fluid cinematography (by Enrique Chediak and Anthony Dod Mantle) would be exciting to contemplate the internal battle between the folding of the protagonist and his will to live.

By the way ... what is taking so unusual career James Franco. Just a couple of years the media mocked him for working on a telenovela and his eclectic career choices (and do not forget the famous photo university). However it seems he knew what he was doing, because in a few months regained credibility by its performance in movies like Milk , Howl and now 127 hours. Perhaps not so exceptional work like Natalie Portman in Black Swan or Christian Bale in The Fighter , but it certainly deserves the attention he's receiving. Hopefully the channel to benefit your future career ... and the public. As for the supporting cast can hardly be mentioned, it is obvious that the whole movie belongs to Franco. Either way you can appreciate the participation of Amber Tamblyn and Kate Mara, not only offering free "sport-bras", but an inexpensive and highly efficient introduction to the personality of Aron.

However (here comes the inevitable complaints) ... As much as you enjoyed 127 Hours , Did not seem as memorable as other works by Boyle (or, for that matter, as other films I've seen this year.) His handling of the suspense, anguish, and emotional collapse of the protagonist is shocking the duration of the film, likewise impressed me the director's visual virtuosity, behaving almost like a Michael Bay "indie", but emotional and narrative justification of juggling film. And yet I feel that the experience was a bit hollow and pointless (well, maybe not forget some brutal scene that occurs near the end). In short, I think 127 hours deserves a strong recommendation for his leadership, performance and just because it has a fascinating history. not replace Sunshine as my favorite film by Danny Boyle, but may be at a level similar to the above Slumdog Millionaire ... a good hook themed drama, unexpected humor and a protagonist who inspires us with his suffering. Sure Slumdog Millionaire did not have the presence of Scooby Doo ...

What Is A Pregnancy Cra

comic book writer Grant Morrison has many supporters and detractors, and although I am one of the first ( The Invisibles is my favorite comic book series), I understand the latter. The exuberant and excessive Morrison style can get frustrating and incomprehensible ( anyone said "Final Crisis" ?), But I tend to think that in the middle of the comic is better to have a writer with genuine enthusiasm and wealth of ideas (perhaps too) instead of half a dozen mercenaries "yes-men" regurgitating the hits of the past. However, that fertile creativity can be counterproductive when it challenges the "status quo" of a super-hero, and to exasperate the most devoted followers continuity established by DC Comics from seven decades ago. For better or for worse, many people considered the mini-series All-Star Superman like one of those challenges. Undoubtedly had good sales and received many awards, but the re-interpretation of the most iconic super-hero in the world did not sit well with some purists who denounced it as a whim "pop" with purely commercial view (duh!). The funny thing is that, in my humble opinion, Morrison did not rule out the rich history of the character, but used it as food for your fevered imagination, resulting in unusual stories but respectful of the legacy of Superman .

I mention all this as preamble for the animated adaptation All-Star Superman I found an excellent movie that dares to escape the universe "normal" tapes of previous animated DC Comics. Thus it may be a bit inaccessible for those not familiar with the printed version, but for readers of the comic is a unique experience, although not free of problems. The argument begins with an accident on board the first manned spacecraft closely studying the sun. Superman (voiced by James Denton) arrives on time, rescue the scientists, and incidentally discovers that his eternal enemy, Lex Luthor (voiced by Anthony LaPaglia), planned sabotage. However, the real purpose of Luthor is much more sinister, knowing that by saturating Superman's body with radiation, will start a chain reaction at the molecular level that killed him. Then, when Superman realizes that his end was near, decided to use the time left to resolve some personal issues while continuing his tireless defense of Earth against enemies of the past, present and future. But, above all, reveal his secret identity to the person you love ... No, not Jimmy Olsen, but Lois Lane (voiced by Christina Hendricks).

Like its print version, All-Star Superman contains moments of great wit, narrative skill and emotional impact (the conversation between Lex Luthor and Clark Kent is just brilliant). But by compressing many "mini-stories" in a short film of eighty minutes, until the strongest elements tend to be weakened and lost in the avalanche of ideas, characters and conflicts that remain in the air, or that are resolved too quickly. Must have been very difficult for the recently deceased writer Dwayne McDuffie (veteran of Marvel and DC) to discard some notable sub-plot of the miniseries (where is Krypto ?) And altering others to have some narrative cohesion start to finish, yet the animated adaptation of All-Star Superman feels so saturated and chaotic as Superman's Kryptonian molecules. But ... somehow makes sense. One of the best attributes (or worst, depending on taste) of DC's animated films that are aimed at readers of comics and their creators assume some knowledge by the viewer and not waste time in establishing the context of character or history. The problem is that this strategy works best in relatively self-contained, as the remarkable Batman: Under the Hood Red or Superman / Batman: Public Enemies . In the case of a semi-anthology as All-Star Superman , occasionally hear the sound of the gears to try to impose an integral flow in a fragmented narrative.

Having said that, All-Star Superman seemed outstanding in all aspects. The character design is perfect (no wonder it is attached enough to the lines of great artist Frank Quitely ), the special effects are used judiciously, and even the quality of the animation than the more rugged and cheap treatment that we saw in Wonder Woman or Green Lantern : First Flight . My only complaint would be with some of the voices supporting roles are perfect (including Anthony LaPaglia as Lex Luthor, Frances Conroy lending his voice to Martha Kent and Ed Asner as inevitably grumpy Perry White). But James Denton and Christina Hendricks as Superman and Lois Lane, respectively, seemed a bit soft. Perhaps because "real" actors and not accustomed to the work of "voice over" lack the experience necessary to print more personality to their voices. On the other hand, the general tone All-Star Superman is much more human and less heroic than the DC universe, so maybe it was right to select voices that went against what we had seen in other animated works. I do not know ... perhaps the second or third time you see it (and I assure you I will do) will stop "jumping" that detail.

Then I can enthusiastically recommend All-Star Superman ... but I think the experience will be more satisfying for readers of comic that casual viewers looking for simple super-hero action. Grant Morrison injected new energy and vitality to a character than seventy years has been re-worked and re-invented many times, and did so without the typical "clean slate" that is so popular in the middle. His work was both inspired and elegantly simple. And while the film All-Star Superman moved many of the main aspects of the author (and artist), I do not work as well as its print counterpart. Still, it has become my favorite animated movie from DC Comics ... after Justice League: The New Frontier . It is difficult for the preemption, at least until someone dare to make a faithful adaptation of The Invisibles .

... and today Galaxie 500 in the Lara

This is a busy week of concerts that contrasts with my autistic weeks earlier, before yesterday I was at the Moby Dick to see The Joy Formidable, a group that is going to sound very much, I guarantee, I recently read that condensed, except electronics hip hop and of course, what had been the nineties, grunge, shoegaze, pop ... and the truth is that truth as a temple. All the rage that Chramberries wanted to have in certain songs and never got to have, what do they get a single disc. Spectacular, and more on a site with such good acoustics and nice as this room.

Anyway, today we see the Lara Dean Wareham, or what is the same Galaxie 500 because just going to play songs from his first group, which will be immensely appreciated. Anyway, I'll meet another of my dreams to be able to hear music that I put this baby live below, and two guitars because in the eighties and nineties the only guitarist he was. Few songs are so hypnotic I like this.

How Long To Take Viroptic

Quick Cuts: Mega Gator vs. Python, Mean Girls 2, Red: Werewolf Hunter

Mega Python Vs Gator

always say I do not like watching movies study The Asylum but how I can resist the title of Mega Python Vs Gator? I'm human! I can not ignore the promise of snakes and giant lizards. And I can not resist the cast led by Debbie (sorry, "Deborah") Gibson and Tiffany, two young singers from the eighties equally famous for its soft pop hymns, and the alleged rivalry that divided an entire generation (maybe I'm exaggerating). Clear that both divas have experience in similar caliber films, do not forget that Gibson was the best of Mega Shark Giant Octopus Vs , while Tiffany previously faced giant piranhas Piranha Mega . Needless to say, Mega Python Vs Gator is another mega-disappointment of tamañoide similar.

Argument is a magical symphony of stupidity: the stubborn activist Nikki Riley (Deborah Gibson) releases some reptiles that were caged in a mysterious laboratory, and within days the Sheriff Terry O'Hara (Tiffany) began receiving reports of large snakes attacking local wetland wildlife, particularly crocodiles. Irony! For wanting to protect snakes, Nikki accidentally caused an ecological disaster. But no matter, because the solution is obvious: injecting steroids and growth hormone in chickens and give them to the crocodiles, to grow and to fend off aggressive snakes. But nature is unpredictable, and when the snakes consume contaminated meat begin to grow, so Terry and Nikki will have to cooperate and resolve their differences to avoid the huge creatures consume the spectacularly stupid people in the region ... and perhaps the world.

All in all, I like The Asylum return to the mood of their productions old, which tacitly admit their incompetence and invited us to be complicit in the joke . I also appreciate that the plot has some semblance of structure, instead of looking like a sequence of improvised scenes together arbitrarily by a editor blind (did I mention that the director of the film is Mary Lambert, best known for Pet Sematary and The In Crowd ?). And above all, I enjoyed the humor of the inevitable actresses screaming at the empty space that would later be inhabited by very poor digital creatures. So I will not say Mega Python Vs Gator is "so bad it's good", but it certainly seemed ridiculous enough to be entertaining and hilarious. I assure you that I've had worse experiences in the cinema with films "serious", so I can not deny a grudging recommendation this gathering of monsters. And snakes and crocodiles.

Mean Girls 2

Among my youth comedies favorite is Mean Girls (2004), written by Tina Fey as a modern version of Heathers , perhaps no murders or suicides, but similar black humor and sardonic view of tides policies on a "high school" American, dominated with an iron fist by a group of girls that are just perfect hated and adored by his "subjects." And Mean Girls had considerable economic success (I suspect not only for their intrinsic merit, but because of the alarming shortage of good films in that genre), became the perfect candidate to receive a direct to DVD sequel, we now have a chance to enjoy. Or, rather, "enjoy."

far as I can see, the only actor in Mean Girls 2 returning from the original is Tim Meadows as the school director wins North Shore (which does not say much for his career post- Saturday Night Live), which reaches the young Jo Mitchell (Meaghan Martin), whose father is a mechanic race car. The perfect girl, nicknamed "the plastics", recognize the potential of the new girl and offer to enter the exclusive group but Jo rejects, as the constantly changing city have taught him not to make friends for no disappointments when you have to leave school. Of course the plastics are not used to rejection, and proceed to make life miserable for Jo, who is forced to retaliate with the same weapons, and with the help Abby (Jennifer Stone), the shy girl who does not know the hidden secret that Jo ...

I have a theory about the origin of Mean Girls 2. It strikes me that started as an honest expression of "girl power" combined with an examination (not very original) of the pseudo-feminist themes used in the first movie, but a committee of executives felt that there was not enough romance, and decided to insert to force a generic hunk who ruined the tape, as it not only interferes with the main plot but that sabotaging the message of self-sufficiency female seems to fly the argument. And if we add the clumsy direction and poor editing, we have a shaky movie with uncertain pace, irregular structure, and without enough laughs to justify its existence as a brilliant comedy sequel. But for this letter is not part of "burn book" , conclude by saying that I liked the performance of Meaghan Martin in the lead role, and Jennifer Stone as his innocent friend. By the way ... it was my twisted imagination, and I noticed some romantic tension between them? One moment ... maybe that's why they put the gallant men! To avoid accusations "guardians of morality" can not tolerate ideas contrary to their own ideology!. What am I talking about? It's just Mean Girls 2, another mediocre direct to DVD sequel is far below its predecessor. Only an idiot would put both over-analyze.

Network: Werewolf Hunter

As a fan of The Guild and Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog , was one of many "geeks" that we receive with pleasure the recent news that Felicia Day is working on a new web series based on the video game Dragon Age . There are still months before the debut of this project (and even more for the fifth season of The Guild ), but the news finally gave me the courage to see Network: Werewolf Hunter , a cheap tape direct to DVD (or TV, it is co-funded by the channel SyFy ) that reinterprets the story of Little Red Riding Hood like a movie horror-adventure in which a woman named Virginia bold "Red" Sullivan (Felicia Day) belongs to a family which for centuries hunting werewolves. But things get complicated when Nathan (Kavan Smith), her fiance, learns the secret and become easy targets for lupine monsters. Red Can (nicknamed so for his red hair) to save his fiance, keep the family tradition and avoid being eaten, as happened to your grandmother?

is not a very original idea. The able director Neil Jordan did something similar last twenty-five years The Company of Wolves , and director Catherine Hardwicke is about to release Red Riding Hood with Amanda Seyfried in a similar role. But Network: Werewolf Hunter has cast in its favor a "geek-friendly" which includes, in addition to Day, to Kavan Smith ( Stargate: Atlantis , Eureka ), Stephen McHattie ( Watchmen , Pontypool ) and Carlyn Burchell (no science fiction, but attractive to any nerd). Unfortunately the illustrious performers feel wasted, for there is much to recommend in this slow and confused movie who spends much of his time in repetitive dialogue, "tight" tours of the decrepit houses an abandoned village, and (could not miss) walks without direction or purpose whatsoever (except to inflate the length of the movie) by well-known forest Canada where they have filmed enough messes like this. I think I'm recognizing specific trees have often seen behind zombies, slashers aliens and other creatures.

But the low budget and general locations are not the only problems facing Network: Werewolf Hunter . The plot lacks cohesion, and sometimes it seems constructed from two different movies. In a family drama we have Virginia, her siblings and her fiance, on the other we see the manhunt game play like the wolves. Not until the end when the director Sheldon Wilson reminds them together, just in time to reach the "epic" final more or less works, at least by the standards of this niche film. Anyway ... as far as I can point to positive action by Felicia Day, sincere and energetic, and Stephen McHattie, whose experience as eternal cynic given a little spark to their talkative villain. The effects I also particularly relevant unexpectedly appeared, well, the creatures are horrendous, but the transformations are well designed and executed. In fact, I think I liked more than those of Twilight: (or was New Moon ? Whatever.) The point is that I do not regret having seen Network: Werewolf Hunter , but I can not recommend it (except to fans of Felicia Day), as its attributes seem little consolation prize and not components of a good movie. After all what I expected, so I can not complain (more). But he wished that it was a pleasant surprise rather than a routine dose of mediocrity. Hopefully Dragon Age: Redemption more successful.

The Rogue Leather Bodice

The Rite (The Rite)

"Another movie about exorcisms" inspired by real events? Sure! Why not? At least the presence of acclaimed actor Anthony Hopkins is a guarantee of quality, right?

Sarcasm.

Although there are good intentions and some good times Rite, the overall result is a slow and pretentious film that aims to soberly assess the validity of the demonic possession and the attitude of the Church (with a capital) compared to that phenomenon. Unfortunately Rite does not work either as a horror film or as a questionable situation analysis, and less when compared to films that have done better, as The Exorcism of Emily Rose .

Well ... Here's why. The protagonist is aspiring priest Michael Kovak (Colin O'Donoghue), who is about to abandon the novitiate in the city of Chicago until his superior understanding suggests taking a course of exorcism in Rome, as more and more cases of demonic possession in the world and we need people ready to save the lives and souls of the victims. Michael accepts with little conviction and, as might be expected, the "school of exorcism" only increases doubts about the existence of God and the Devil. Then assigned the task of helping the veteran Father Lucas Trevant (Anthony Hopkins), and that's when Michael begins to have contact with victims "real" satanic possession, which slowly erodes disbelief the young priest ... and prepares for the biggest challenge to be overcome.

I admire the intention of the director Mikael Håfström and screenwriter Michael Petroni (based on a book by Matt Baglio ) to present a balanced view of demonic possession and exorcism. But ultimately its mission to "scare" prevails, and unfortunately can not find the proper angle to do so. Then they must lie in the typical sub-genre cliches as the obligatory evil child, the woman screaming curses and contorts his body, the priest with a crisis of faith he sees "signs everywhere, the possessed who know even the most intimate secrets of the exorcists ... "All this sound familiar? The worst thing is that when Rite be taken too seriously ends up falling into unintentional humor, which takes away even more credibility to their "real facts" (the satanic mule is priceless, I hope to become a cult figure with hundreds of remix on YouTube).

After doing a couple of mediocre horror films in Sweden (as Strandvaskaren ), director Mikael Håfström was seduced by Hollywood and ended up making mediocre horror movies, although most famous actors. For Rite the main attraction is undoubtedly Anthony Hopkins, whose performance is not necessarily "good", but enthusiastic and expressive, taking advantage of some good dialogue and generating gravity, which usually have their characters, what deserved or not. Pity that the final loss of control, although not his fault, but the script betrays him with a surprise twist which aims to complete the development of his young colleague. By the way, I must say that Colin O'Donoghue has a good performance in this thankless role, as it seemed credible evolution through the work of actor and "clues" that are revealed about his past and the origin of his crisis of faith. It will sound like heresy, but I feel that the presence of Hopkins came out on, because the most interesting story dull the young priest. If the script had not tried to do, "Merrin and Karras: Researchers", perhaps Rite serve better as a supernatural drama "instead of engaging both as a horror film. Oh, and what a waste of the great Rutger Hauer !

Anyway ... for whatever reason, it seems that movies about exorcism and demons are proliferating, so surely we can expect more rehashes of these tired clichés. Some are better than others, but at least Rite showed that fame and talent of the actors is not the determining factor of quality. However, I insist that the mule has the potential satanic, hopefully have a good agent.

Radiohead-The King of Limbs

Today Saturday, but I feel that this will make it's Friday but hey, out through the online store the band's new album the group's most important recent twenty years, Radiohead. Okay, some will not agree with the last thing I said but I think it is the quorum group that meets in this respect I can not be objective, is one of those groups that has marked a profound way and part of his personal soundtrack (god I put bows.) The cover is a marvel, to be honest few covers of his albums tend to like, but in the end what matters is inside:)

Obviously I've heard, but do not worry Mr. York, Greenwood brothers and company, when in May is in stores I'll buy it, because frankly from Kid "Unless you have given a twist to your sound, and I personally thank you for what you have done.

prejudices still exist on the Galician ... Galicia in the diverse

Finally, a Coruña Choni has taken all their complex battery to light. While many bray with amazing effrontery that is right ... It seems a shame Galicia, then we complain that things go wrong, but if we do not appreciate the first to throw stones at us and against our own roof What do you expect?

was going to make a speech all pissed against this fiend, to which his father Galician society calls for forgiveness. But anyway, today in the opinion section of La Voz de Galicia I found some words have comforted me, and as well as fists truths says:

Big Sister:

Galician. Do not talk about anyone in Galicia. Well, yes, the nationalists. Also the village, the pailanes. In Lugo, to make matters worse, he leaves that accent the rough, ugly. If you just understand them.

A blog of The Voice broadcast statements of this kind, made by a Big Brother contestant Galician. It might seem an anecdote. But it is a symptom of a feeling setting for years in this tip Northwest. The denial. The contempt for the Galician and rural.

Giving up a Language ingots when hand, whether Galician, Castilian, or Japanese, is like crossing the Sistine Chapel without looking up. Cultural blindness and shortsightedness of opportunities. Nor is commendable that habit of stealing his own Galician speakers, giving dignity only to that variant xunteira, where they do not fit the lisp and gheada where words like fincapé campaigns, where the phonetic absent and where pronouns thrown at random. But some prefer the language of "cho say eu 'finest and distinctive ear to ear. Disparaging

rural per system is another popular sport among some alleged urbanites. Curious, when a Most of the Galician population has its roots in the field without unearthing many generations.

Maybe someday Galicia can be reconciled with itself. But for now, keep coming to mind Castelao. In one of his illustrations talk two distinguished ladies. "This guy says he knows a lot," says one. And the other replies: "Yes, but with a Galician accent so ..." .

The truth is that I have not seen the movie and it may be another civil war truño on, but such gestures in order to culture in different languages \u200b\u200bmade the state think they are necessary, but as Galician is interested party, despite writing in Castilian.
